2015 May 10

FORTY - count'em FORTY minutes laughing.
My face became a bit tingly... maybe I overdid it a bit.  I enjoyed myself on the drive home.
I did notice, that I was a bit tired later in the day, though, that must be because of the hearty laughter during the drive OR the early morning rise to head home to my husband.

2015 May 9 Laughing

On Saturday I recall practicing my Laughing during my ride to visit my sister.  I laughed for about 1/2 hour.
As I drove the remainder of the trip and as I visited with my sisters, I noted a general feeling of satisfaction.
Also, normally I would have had a back ache and been drowsy, but the laughter helped with my "boredom" and pain relief also in part because I had to sit up straight to laugh much of the time.

2015 May 6 Laughter Leader session 1

I practiced Laughter Yoga with two colleagues at work on Wednesday.
We set the time for the end of the day 4:30-5:00.  Paul and Stephanie were my first students.

I opened up the session by talking about Laughter Yoga for about 5 minutes;
I then lead a breathing exercise, describing the 3-part breath.  We discussed aches and pains currently experienced.  Stephanie described a back ache before... and reported its reduced pain after.  Same for Paul - his aches were in his quads... reduced after.  The following day I spoke to each person, each reporting to have had a more relaxed and stress free evening.  They enjoyed the end of day timing as it helped with the work to home transition.

2015 May 7 Laughing

Yesterday I laughed on my way to meet Vicky.  The day, was to be spent traveling to and from Cedar Rapids.  Vicky and I would be spending the better part of 5 hours talking in the car.  I believe my mood enhancement caused by laughing prepared me to be a better listener because the exercise also cleared my mind.
We had some light, some serious, and some personal discussions.  All of which required acute listening skills and compassion.  I really believe my exercise on the way to meet Vicky made the trip a more pleasant one.

2015 May 6 Laughing

Today I laughed my way to work.
As I was driving someone pulled out in front of me.  She and I would have been seriously hurt (or killed) if my breaks were not working and my mind had been drifting.  My reaction to this encounter was to laugh my way through it.  I was not agitated as I normally would have been.  I was able to let it go.
I drove past a store which had flowers out for sale. I laughed at the joy of seeing flowers."Flowers I laughed".
I saw children waiting for busses, I laughed;  I laughed while I waited for the light to change from red;  I wondered that no one else was laughing;  I wondered if anyone else was enjoying the day.

As the day progressed, my "problem child" stirred my pot at work.  I didn't laugh.  I sat back and said I feel sorry for her.  She must have no happiness in her life to be this way.  I got a little agitated; but am letting it go a lot more easily.
I love to laugh....

2015 May 4 Laughing

Today I laughed in the evening instead of the morning.  Beanie is getting used to my funny noises, and just leaves the room until he hears me finish.  What a good kitty!

When I laugh hard, I cough.  When I cough hard I gag.  I hope this reflex passes. I believe Laughter Leader, Mike, said that it is normal to cough after laughing for an hour.  that the lungs are clearing themselves of mucus from the less used parts.  Maybe I am just making that up.  Either way, I hope it passes. :)

I had a headache when I started by laughter practice.  The headache is gone.  I feel pleased.  I feel good. Lightheaded even, ha ha.  My family would ask me how I tell the difference (snicker).

I am really excited about the potential of my future as a laughing fool.  I KNOW I will have fun.

2015 May 3 Laughing

This morning I laughed for 20 minutes as an exercise for laughter yoga. My cat seemed wary of my behavior, but I found his reaction amusing; thus the exercise was made easier. I tried many types of laughing, including a hard belly laugh. This one was uncomfortable because it induced a gag reflex. I feel a bit tired because of this new aerobic exercise.
